Welcome to Consul Countries, a service of the Consular Chamber of Commerce. We provide country data for websites via a simple web service interface. All that we as in return is that websites that utilize our servics attribute Consul Countries as the source of the data and include a link back to our home page.

The data we provide

A list of countries with ISO-3166-1 2-character codes

This is the list of country codes that are used for the top level country domain names. We provide the list as UTF-8 encoded country names along with their ISO-3166-1 2-character codes. This list is suitable for creating a drop down list of countries as is seen on our home page. We also include significant data about each country, its location, population, elevation, and subdivisions.

An image of the country flag

For any ISO-3366-1 code we provide an PNG formatted image of the country flag. This image is 42 pixels high, width is dependent upon the ratio of hight to width for the flag in question.

An animated map of the country location

For most ISO-3366-1 codes we provide a GIF formatted animated image that starts with an image of the world map and, through a series of steps, zooms in on the country location. This provides users with a spacial refernce for the country as well as the country map itself.

A list of links to official websites about the country

This list comprises

• the CIA (US Govt Agency) world factbook entry for the country,
• the BBC country profile
